Joanne has over 15 years of experience in post merger integration, as both a Senior Associate for PwC and latterly leading the Acquisition Integration team in Europe for IBM.
Since joining IBM, Joanne has led the integration of over 90 software and services businesses in Europe. Starting at due diligence, she focuses on developing and implementing plans to grow sustainable revenue and integrate all the business operations.
Deal experience includes acquisitions ranging in size from small single country to larger multi nationals (over 1000 people across 14 countries), usually integrating 10+ businesses in parallel at any one time.
Joanne graduated from De Montfort University, UK and is also ACMA.
Liana is former Global Head of M&A at Syngenta International AG, having joined in 2010. Prior to that she worked for 14 years in investment banking (i.e. M&A, corporate defence, capital raisings, private equity, project finance) in London, Tokyo, Zürich and New York, primarily with UBS and Nomura, covering a variety of sectors (e.g. chemicals, healthcare, technology, electronics, industrials, materials and transportation). She started her career with a 2-year spell in management consulting / strategic planning. Liana holds an MBA from IMD (Switzerland) and an MSc in Business Administration from Bocconi University (Italy).
Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Airbus Group, she heads all M&A transactions for the group. She joined EADS in 1997 as Vice-President Mergers and Acquisitions. Prior to EADS, she was Executive Director at Ernst & Young transaction advisory services in Paris. She started her career in Grant Thornton in Germany in 1991 in audit and then capital markets and transaction advisory roles. She attended University College Dublin and the Royal Society of Arts in London.
Prof Scott Moeller is the director and founder of the M&A Research Centre at Cass Business School where he also Professor in the Practice of Finance. Scott is widely published as an author, including Why Deals Fail & How to Rescue Them: M&A Lessons for Deal Success (published by The Economist in September 2016), Surviving M&A: Making the Most of Your Company Being Acquired (John Wiley, 2009), the award-winning Intelligent M&A: Navigating the Mergers and Acquisitions Minefield (second edition, John Wiley, 2014). Prior to his teaching and research, Scott was at Deutsche Bank in London for 6 years in several senior banking positions. He worked first at Booz Allen & Hamilton management consultants for over five years and then at Morgan Stanley for 12 years in New York, Japan, and then as co-manager of Morgan Stanley in Germany. He currently sits on the board of several companies in Europe and the UK as a non-executive director. Scott is a graduate of Yale College (BA with honours), the Yale Graduate School (MA) and the Yale Management School (MBA).
Mr. Sessa joined Bain Capital in 2004. Prior to joining Bain Capital, Mr. Sessa was a consultant with Bain & Company in the New York, Atlanta, and Milan offices where he provided strategic and operational advice to private equity, industrial, and financial services clients.
Mr. Sessa received a BS magna cum laude in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan.
Thomas H. Etzel is Managing Director at HQ Capital (Deutschland) GmbH in Bad Homburg. Responsible for business development: Family Offices, Ultra High Net Individuals, Trust.
He is a member of investment committee of several family offices and private equity funds.
Thomas H. Etzel served over 22 years at BHF-BANK: Head of Alternative Investments, Managing Director of BHF Private Equity Management GmbH, Managing Director of BHF Real Estate GmbH as well as Managing and founding Partner of 9 Private Equity Funds, Managing and founding Partner of 14 real estate private equity funds as well as Managing and founding Partner of 4 mezzanine capital funds. In addition Thomas H. Etzel serves since 1999 as guest Professor at the International University of Monaco, Monte Carlo.
Jacques Buhart is a partner at McDermott Will & Emery and focuses his practice on cross-border mergers and acquisitions and EU/French competition investigations and litigation out of Brussels and Paris. Jacques has also developed substantial knowledge of various industries, including nuclear, telecommunications, pharmaceutical, paper and energy. He is head of the Firm's Paris and Brussels offices.
In addition to managing Mergermarket’s global team of journalists, Giovanni’s responsibilities include seeking new growth areas, moderating and speaking at M&A events and hiring new talent. He also comments regularly about the markets on TV and gives academic lectures. Giovanni joined Mergermarket in 2001 and has held a number of positions within the company, including Frankfurt Bureau Chief, Italian Correspondent, telecommunications, leisure and media reporter and research analyst. He is based in London.
Alessandra leads the European operation of Dealreporter. She has been in financial journalism for over 10 years having covered large scale of M&A deals across different sectors and regions.
Prior to this post, Alessandra was deputy editor for Dealreporter Europe and Head of Italian coverage where she coordinated all coverage on the market.
Alessandra's team provides intelligence for the equity and fixed income markets that is tailored to hedge funds, proprietary trading desks, security lending, ECM syndicate desks and institutional fund managers.
Lucinda has been in business journalism for over ten years. Lucinda has experience reporting on markets in Europe, Latin America and Asia. Prior to this post, Lucinda was deputy editor for Dealreporter Asia based in the Hong Kong office and reported on corporate events in Japan and Australia. She also headed up Dealreporter's convertible bond coverage in Europe and Asia. Lucinda's team provides intelligence for the equity and fixed income markets that is tailored to hedge funds, proprietary trading desks, security lending, ECM syndicate desks and institutional fund managers.
Kathleen has been heading the Mergermarket Research EMEA team for the past five years and has been with the Acuris since 2006. She manages both the EMEA Advisory and Analyst teams and is responsible for all the content on announced transactions in EMEA as well as the region-related press releases, reports and other publications produced by the team. Her qualifications include an MA in Applied Economics from the University of Antwerp and an MSc in Finance and Management from Cranfield School of Management.
