Meet the 2018 speakers
Markus Bruckmüller is the Co-Managing Partner of the firm's office in Slovenia. He is specialized in corporate/M&A, banking & finance and real estate. His experience includes advising on numerous large-scale M&A transactions, cross-border banking and finance projects, and real estate transactions. He regularly holds internal and external lectures on aspects of M&A transactions and restructurings, for example at the Wolf Theiss School of Excellence and for the Ljubljana Faculty of Law.
Markus is admitted to the bar in both Austria and Slovenia.
Robert is a Managing Partner of Enterprise Investors, a leading private equity fund management company in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). EI has raised nine funds with aggregate capital of €2.5 billion, has invested in 140 companies in the CEE region, and has exited more than 125 companies, including over 30 public market listings. Having joined Enterprise Investors at the firm’s start in 1990, Robert is one of the longest-active professionals in CEE private equity, with more than 27 years of investment experience. He has been active in development of the PE industry in CEE as the founding president of the founding of the Polish Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (PSIK) and as Chairman of Invest Europe’s CEE Task Force since 2003.
Dr. Marcell Soós has an MSc in Finance and a jurist doctor diploma from top Hungarian universities. He worked for investment boutique firm named Concorde Securities as equity research analyst. Later, he moved to Raiffeisen Bank where he had various positions in credit risk management as well as in M&A and project finance departments. In 2005, he joined FiberNet Group (cable TV business) as CFO of various operations that was expanding through acquisitions in Bulgaria and Ukraine. He has been Director of M&A and Investment Portfolio Management of Egis Pharmaceuticals Plc. since 2011.
Jacek Michalski is a member of the Corporate/M&A team and heads the local practice in Warsaw. With over 28 years of experience, Jacek has led many ground breaking transactions in Poland, the CEE region and Africa. He focuses on counselling and representing clients in M&A, capital markets, corporate governance, and financial sector regulatory matters. Jacek also advises on the creation of new banks, acquisitions of existing banks, and mergers between large local banks and international banks. He has been listed by major legal directories as one of the leading corporate lawyers in Poland for many years. Prior to joining Wolf Theiss, Jacek worked at other prominent international law firms in Warsaw. He graduated from the University of Warsaw and is a member of the Warsaw Bar of Legal Advisors.
Zsófia Zséger is head of group funding in MOL Group’s Treasury. She is currently responsible for the funding of the Hungarian oil company, handling the group’s EUR 6 bn portfolio. She has been working at MOL Group for more than 7 years and held various positions at MOL Treasury’s cash management and funding department. Before joining the oil company, from 2007 until 2010 she was working first at Budapest Bank and then at Raiffeisen Bank Hungary in the field of bank card operations. She graduated from Corvinus University, Budapest and holds an MSc in Capital Markets and Corporate Finance.
Igor is a Partner at TPA. He is primarily involved in merger and acquisition advisory and valuations and works for clients from various sectors. Prior to joining TPA Igor worked wih Ernst & Young (1999- 2010), Komercni Banka and for Creditanstalt Investment Bank. He has been involved in many cross-border acquisitions and also acted as an privatisation advisor across CEE. Igor executed 100+ transactions, mostly cross-border.
Richard König is the Executive Vice President for Business Development and the Joint Managing Director of the Renewables Business in Austria and Slovakia.
Before joining ContourGlobal, Mr. Koenig headed the Energy & Utilities team at the Raiffeisen Bank International where he worked for seven years on Mergers & Acquisitions and financing transactions in Europe and CIS. In his earlier career, he worked at the London-based Power & Utilities team of ABN AMRO with a focus on transactions in Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Asia. He also worked in the General M&A Advisory group of ABN AMRO in Amsterdam focusing on LBO transactions. Mr. Koenig studied at the University of Graz and the Business School at the University of Nottingham. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business & Economics in addition to a Master’s Degree in Finance & Industrial Management. He speaks German, English, Dutch, and some Italian.
Peter has spent last 17 years working on the energy sector related matters either in a capacity of an adviser or as a member of management teams. When with PricewaterhouseCoopers, Peter advised both private and public clients on acquisitions or disposals of the power generation or power distribution assets and customer oriented businesses. As a board member of EON Energie and EON grid services company in the Czech Republic, Peter was responsible for selected portfolio of customers, business development and acquisition of new customers and the grid services restructuring. In January 2016, Peter has joined Energeticky and Prumyslovy Holding as a project manager responsible for the business development in Italy. In September 2016, Peter has assumed the role of M&A Director.
Ileana Glodeanu is a Partner at Wolf Theiss and the coordinator of the Bucharest Corporate/M&A team. As a talented and professional lawyer, who enjoys high positive name recognition on the M&A market, Ileana is extremely active and has advised on some of the largest transactions concluded in the past years in Romania. She has a solid profile as a leading expert with a particular focus on energy, TMT and pharma, also excelling in the field of employment and insolvency restructuring.
Niklas has 15 years of experience in providing structured growth finance to the SME sector in Central and Eastern Europe and joined Mezzanine Management in 2005. He is leading the transaction team located in Vienna focusing on transactions in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and the former Yugoslavian countries.
Between 2000 and 2005, Niklas worked for VCP Capital Partners (“VCP”), a leading independent investment and advisory company in Central Europe. Before VCP, he worked for well-known M&A advisory houses, e.g. Ernst & Young Financial Advisory Services. Niklas holds a Master’s degree from the University of Business Administration in Vienna and has pursued study programs in the US.
Philip is responsible for the product, sales and marketing strategy of Intralinks’ Strategic Financials business. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the M&A Research Centre at Cass Business School, City, University of London. Prior to joining Intralinks in 2010, he worked for 17 years as an M&A investment banker and in management consulting. He began his career at Deloitte in London in the financial services practice and then worked at NatWest Markets Corporate Finance, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and in corporate development for The Rank Group Plc, as well as founding an M&A consulting firm. Philip holds postgraduate degrees in Finance and Computer Science and a BA in Linguistics, from the University of London.
Krzysztof Konopiński is a Partner at Private Equity Managers / MCI Capital, one of the CEE’s leading private equity firm. He is also a Vice President of the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association.
Krzysztof has over 13-years experience in corporate finance, banking, financial modeling and transaction structuring, supported with several years of entrepreneurial experience. Involved in numerous private equity investments in financial services, fintech, agriculture, healthcare and e-commerce throughout CEE region.
He started his career at KPMG, on a team responsible for audits of banks and financial institutions. From 2004 to 2010, he was actively involved in developing mBank. Krzysztof also worked in KGHM and PKO BP capital group.
Krzysztof holds a degree in Finance & Management from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. He is the Certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) and a member of the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Richard Clegg is a transactional and regulatory lawyer working throughout Central & Eastern Europe and South Eastern Europe. He has particular specialization and expertise in structuring and negotiating transactions and projects across the regulated sectors and his experience includes advising on internationally significant infrastructure, telecom, energy and technology transactions. Richard has held senior positions in industry and private equity, as an M&A partner with an industrial and infrastructure fund, and as the Group General Counsel and Group Investment Director of Bulgaria Telecom.
Richard is a Solicitor in the Republic of Ireland, a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales, and a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Bulgaria.
Mr. Buk was born in 1972 in Rijeka (city in Croatia). After graduating from the Faculty of Economics, he started his professional career in Croatia Line d.d. Rijeka. With the departure to ADRIA osiguranje d.d. Pula as a Financial Director, he gains adequate knowledge from various areas of insurance business operations.
After the takeover of ADRIA osiguranje d.d. by Grawe Croatia d.d., in 2001 he became the Head of the Finance and General Affairs Department and at the end of 2004 he moved to the position of the Head of the Controlling Department, and at the same time becomes a Procurator of Society.
In mid-2005, he moved to Allianz Zagreb d.d. as Director of Property Control and Asset Management, and became a member of the Management Board in 2007. In 2008, he becomes the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Allianz ZB d.o.o. Voluntary Pension Funds Management Company, which he has been holding until the end of 2015, and has passed the examination for an authorized pension fund manager. In 2011, he was appointed as Head of the Solvency II Working Group on Solvency and Capital Adequacy Solvency II, which is active at the Croatian Insurance Bureau and on the invitation of the Ministry of Finance in 2012 he is participating in the drafting of the Insurance Act proposal.
In April 2017 he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of AZ d.o.o., a Obligatory Pension Fund Management Company.

Dan Farcasanu is a Country Director Romania.
He previously worked for The Carlyle Group, and as an Investment Manager at GED and Global Finance, where he co-led two investments in the printing and travel business.
He also worked for PwC, initially in audit and due diligence for several Romanian companies, and subsequently in Corporate Finance. As an investment banker working for CA IB Romania he was involved in several privatizations in the utilities sector.
He graduated from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies. He is a member of ACCA.
Robert Engels leads the Aon M&A and Transaction Solutions team in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. He has been in the insurance industry for more than 18 years, of which he spent around 15 years in the M&A advisory space. Prior to re-joining Aon at the beginning of 2016, Robert spent eight years in the Private Equity and M&A team at Marsh, at last leading the team in Germany. Robert holds a German diploma and a UK bachelor in international economics. In addition to German, he is fluent in English and Spanish. Robert began his career with Aon in 2000, when he joined the recently formed Aon M&A practice as a project manager. Throughout the years he held a variety of roles in the M&A practice as well as the Global Clients team.
Bogdan George Iliescu has a career of over 20 years in investment banking and a vast experience of independent non-executive administrator in one of the top ten companies listed on the Romanian Stock Exchange. Between May 2007 and May 2016, he worked as Corporate Finance at BRD Groupe Societe Generale in Romania, where he was involved in numerous national and international mergers and acquisitions, stock market listings and bond issues.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors and its committees within SNTGN Transgaz SA, Mediaş.
Bogdan Iliescu is a member of Electrica's Board of Directors in December 2015.
Thomas Haneder is responsible, above all, for the development and organisation of our Group in South Eastern Europe. In particular, he is the head of our offices in Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia.
As a result of his activities in this region, spanning several years, he is an expert in South Eastern Europe and advises companies entering the market. Furthermore he is a specialist in international tax law, Transfer Pricing and in the tax structuring of cross-border investments and transactions.
Cornel Marian, joined Swedish Private Equity investment company Oresa in 1997, accumulating over 20 years of investing experience in CEE in some selected sectors: financial services, business services, retail, consumer goods and building materials. Notable projects and board membership include current portfolio companies Fabryo, Somaco, La Fantana, RTC, RBC, Kiwi or past investments Flanco, Credisson, Motoractive. Romania is Oresa’s core market today with over EUR 100 million in equity invested. An investment company owned by an entreprenorial family, not a fund with a limited lifetime, Oresa can partner with entrepreneurs and managers for the long term, to create great businesses, build value by using solid business models and by being highly flexible in regard to investment horizon, the size of our deals and transaction structures. Cornel has a BSc in Physics and MBA from UK Durham University Business School.
Catherine Ford is the Editor-at-Large for the events division of Acuris. She is a consultant editor to event programmes, and engaged in the development of timely editorial content for global corporate finance, M&A and capital markets related conferences and events. She routinely moderates discussion panels at conferences across the region. She has worked for Acuris since early 2002, holding a number of senior editorial roles in the company’s European, US and Asia-Pacific head offices.
