Peter Kaufman is President and heads the firm’s Restructuring and Distressed M&A practice. He is also Co-founder and Managing Partner of Bacchus Capital Management, a private equity fund providing strategic capital in the wine industry.
He is the co-author of the definitive works in the field, Distressed Investment Banking: To the Abyss and Back – 2nd Edition and Equity Holders Under Siege: Strategies and Tactics for Distressed Businesses. He has been ranked the #1 national investment banker in financial restructurings by The Deal and is frequently asked by national TV networks and other media outlets to speak on restructuring and bankruptcy topics.
Mr. Kaufman has long history advising banking and insurance institution regulators, state governments and federal agencies over Gordian’s more than 30 years as a firm. Gordian Group has had over 300 engagements on behalf of companies, boards of directors, and shareholders (including entrepreneurs and private equity firms).
Mr. Kaufman received a B.A. with honors in History and Art History from Yale College (where he lettered in lacrosse), and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he graduated in the top quarter of his class.
Mr. Kaufman currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty/Lecturer at the University of Virginia School of Law teaching a course entitled “Advising Boards of Directors Under Siege”; he also assists in teaching courses at Darden Business School at University of Virginia.

Peter focuses on fund distribution, monitoring, client servicing and execution of the various alternative funds marketed by the firm. He has over 27 years of diversified management and investment experience, which includes over 20 years of direct private equity funds investment experience. Prior to joining Eaton Partners, he was a Managing Director with Macquarie Funds Management, where he led a team of investment professionals structuring, fundraising and investing fund of funds and separate accounts into global PE opportunities. Previously, he was a Director with Pacific Corporate Group, where he advised large and small institutional investors on structuring and investing their private equity programs. He began his career as an Operations Officer in the United States Navy within the surface warfare community.
Peter received an MBA from Yale University in New Haven, CT and a BS in Oceanography from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI with a concentration in Defense and Strategic Studies. He holds Series 7, 24, 63 and 79 licenses with FINRA.

Mark Williams is Chief Revenue Officer, Americas at Datasite, a position he has held since 2015. In his role, Mark is responsible for setting and executing the sales strategy across the region, including leading over 130 sales representatives and sales leaders across the United States, Canada and Latin America. He is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to joining Datasite, Mark held several sales leadership roles in a variety of SaaS companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at SmartFocus, a cloud-based digital marketing platform provider. Prior, Mark was Vice President of Sales for Kno, an Andreesen Horowitz backed Education Technology startup, acquired by Intel. Mark graduated with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Humberside University, England.

Claire Rychlewski is a Chicago-based deputy editor with Mergermarket. As well as her editorial duties she continues to covers auctions and M&A trends in the healthcare sector and reports on the corporate growth strategies of US-based healthcare companies. Claire’s focus is on middle and lower middle market healthcare services. Prior to joining Mergermarket, she worked at The ABIS Group, writing and editing news briefs for pharmaceutical companies and healthcare providers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from American University in Washington D.C.
