Joining us for the 10th Annual Italian M&A and Private Equity Forum was Leone Pattofatto, Chief Strategic Equity Officer at CDP who took part in the spotlight session. We sat down with him to discuss the needs of the Italian M&A market and foreign participation in M&A transactions involving Italian assets. 

Massimiliano Nitti of Chiomenti joined us for a chat to discuss the main drivers of M&A activity in the Italian over the next few years. He also highlighted the biggest challenges of doing M&A in the Italian market and how it differs from other regions in Europe. 

Massimo Benedetti, Deals Leader at PwC, explains to us the factors that are driving inbound M&A activity for foreign investors and also where the net opportunities lie for outbound M&A. Massimo also shared his thoughts on how Italian companies can best conduct outbound M&A. 

The Co-Founder & CEO of Workinvoice, Matteo Tarroni, sat down with us to highlight the key drivers and risk for the Fintech market and also where the next opportunities are on the horizon. We also asked him about regulatory developments in the market would affect deals and investment in Italian Fintech. 

The first panel at the 10th Annual Italian M&A and Private Equity Forum focused on inbound M&A activity from foreign investors and what makes Italian companies attractive to investors. Capital control restrictions and protectionism were also discussed along with outbound M&A activity from Italian mid market corporates. 

Presenting the findings from a recent investigation into why some acquisitions fail was Philip Whitchelo of Intralinks. The presentation showcased data from a 25-year study of over 78,500 worldwide M&A transactions by the M&A Research Centre at London’s Cass Business School and Intralinks.
