Meet the speakers
Mr. Raj Kumar Srivastava joined the Ministry of External Affairs in September 1997. He holds a Civil Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He has pursued further studies in Structural Engineering and Earthquake Science. Mr. Srivastava has served in Indian Embassies in Madrid (Spain), Yangon (Myanmar), Vienna (Austria), and Brasilia (Brazil). While at Headquarters in Delhi, he has worked in Foreign Service Institute, Americas (U.S. & Canada) Division, and Gulf (Persian Gulf) Division. In his last assignment in Delhi during 2015-2017, he was on deputation as Joint Secretary to National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), Government of India, looking after the External Security. He assumed his current charge as Deputy Chief of Mission in the Embassy of India, Tokyo on 28 August 2017. In his areas of responsibility in Japan, he takes special interest in promoting B2B (Business-to-Business) and P2P (People-to-People) cooperation between the two countries on the strong foundation of excellent G2G (Government-to-Government) cooperation.
Shuhei Uchida is a partner at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto. He focuses on international and domestic M&A transactions, with plenty of experiences in deals involving private equity firms. He was admitted to the Bar in Japanand New York. He was educated at the University of Tokyo (LL.B., 2002) and Columbia University School of Law (LL.M., 2008). He worked at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP from 2008 to 2009, and also at the Ministry of Justice of Japan from 2010 to 2013, where he drafted the amended Companies Act to introduce a new structure for squeeze-outs.
Sridhar Gorthi is Partner, Trilegal and also serves as a Board Member of the firm. He is a part of the corporate practice group. His areas of expertise include M&A, joint ventures and private equity. Sridhar has been actively involved in several high profile cross-border transactions. Sridhar has represented international clients on inbound M&A in India as well as Indian companies on outbound M&A transactions in jurisdictions such as the UK, the USA, South Africa, Argentina, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. The private equity funds that Sridhar regularly advises include CLSA and Morgan Stanley PE. Sridhar is an alumnus of National Law School, Bangalore India and the Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
